MT Solar Pole Mount Frame Finish Options
MT Solar pole mounts use a steel frame that’s integral to the mount’s strength and structural reliability. It’s made from domestically sourced steel. When you order a solar mount, you have a few different options that will affect the appearance of this component.
Painted
We offer painted frames that are coated with a baked enamel finish in dark gray. After a primer is used to ensure adequate coverage, paint is applied with an electrostatic gun and then cured at 180° F.
Painted frames will not form a layer of rust, but since superficial rust is a not structural issue, the benefits of this option are mostly esthetic.
Because additional steps are needed for finishing between manufacturing and shipment, mounts with painted frames will have a longer lead time than mounts with raw steel frames.
Painted is the default option. We will assume you want a painted frame unless you specify otherwise.
Natural Finish (raw)
You have the option to leave the frame unpainted and uncoated. As the frame is exposed to the elements, a layer of rust will form. This change is superficial and poses no issues for the mount’s structural integrity or reliability. Cosmetically, the frame will take on a rustic, reddish-brown tone.
If the steel pole (not included) is also left untreated, it will have a similar appearance, which contributes to a cohesive look that many of our customers love.
Raw steel frames are the more economical and environmentally friendly option. Less labor and time are needed to manufacture and prepare the mount for shipment. The process also calls for fewer chemicals and results in fewer carbon emissions.
